The Senate Page Program offers High School students from Hawaii a unique experience of the Legislative branch in action.  Pages have the opportunity to meet some of the nation’s most prominent leaders and by being in DC, they witness firsthand political debates in the United States Senate, a place often referred to as the “greatest deliberative body in the world.”

A Page’s duties consist primarily of delivery of correspondence and legislative material within the Congressional complex. Other duties include preparing the chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk.  Pages are expected to work from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. or until the Senate adjourns for the day.

There are four established page sessions. Two sessions are based in the academic year - September through mid-January, and from mid-January through mid-June. Two shorter sessions are held during the summer.

Each session has 30 Page positions available for the 100 Senators. Interest in the Page Program is high, and because not every Senator is able to sponsor a page, the application process is highly competitive. Unfortunately, not all students who seek a position can be accommodated.

Of the 30 positions that are available, 15 are for male pages and 15 are for female pages. Senator Hirono’s page sponsorship alternates by gender. Pages receive a stipend, housing and board while they are participating in the program but are responsible for their own travel to and from Washington, DC.

Spring Session
Deadline: November 30th, 2024

Summer Session I (June - July)
Summer Session II (July - August)
