Clerkships

Law Clerks

Clerkships are available in my Washington, D.C. office. The clerkship program is designed for full-time law students with a bachelor’s degree and at least one full year of law school education.

The clerkship program provides a unique opportunity to assist counsel with my work on the Judiciary Committee, and with other legal and legislative issues that may arise. Law clerks assist my Judiciary staff in drafting memoranda and materials for committee hearings and votes, conducting legal research, tracking legislation, and monitoring developments in the courts and in the news.

Preference will be given to students with ties to the State of Hawaii.

Interested applicants should submit a single PDF document containing a brief cover letter that includes your anticipated availability, a resume, a short writing sample, and a list of at least three references to lawclerk@hirono.senate.gov.

All application materials must be submitted by email. No phone calls or drop-ins please.

Applications for the fall, spring, and summer sessions are processed on a rolling basis.
