Hirono Welcomes Re-Opening of USS Arizona Memorial

In March, Senator Hirono Secured Commitment from Interior Secretary Bernhardt for Monthly Updates on Construction Project

HONOLULU – U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono today welcomed the National Park Service’s (NPS) announcement that it will re-open the USS Arizona Memorial on September 1.

“Today’s announcement is welcome news for the millions of people – including thousands of World War II veterans – who travel to Hawaii to visit the USS Arizona,” Senator Hirono said. “I will continue to work with NPS and other federal officials to ensure this, and the other sites that comprise the Pearl Harbor National Memorial remain open and available to the public.”

In March, Senator Hirono successfully secured a commitment from now-Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt to provide monthly updates on the progress of dock repairs at the Arizona Memorial.
