Senator Hirono Honors Hawaii’s Wounded Warriors

HONOLULU – Senator Mazie K. Hirono addressed veterans and their family members at the Eighth Annual Na Koa Wounded Warrior Regatta reception. During the reception, the Senator reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that our veterans and their loved ones receive the recognition and benefits they deserve.

“Our wounded warriors and their loved ones have given so much to our country, and events like the Na Koa Wounded Warrior Regatta offer a venue for our service members to heal – uniting veterans from all generations,” said Senator Hirono. “I’m committed to working with the Na Koa program and our veterans to ensure that every veteran, service member, and their families receive the recognition and benefits they have earned.”

Senator Hirono serves on the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and continues to be a strong advocate for veteran services and continued benefits for disabled veterans. Last year, Senator Hirono's bipartisan Federal Aviation Administration Veteran Transition Improvement Act was signed into law, providing disabled veterans who are hired by the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration access to additional leave to treat service-related injuries.
