They fought bravely for our country. Now, two Hawaii lawmakers want to see Filipino World War Two veterans taken care of. Twenty years ago, Filipino vets were given a chance to become American citizens, but in many cases they had to leave family behind. Senator Mazie Hirono hopes to change that with her first bill as a Senator. Mazie Hirono, "But what we didn't do really was to provide them the opportunity to call their children to the U.S. and be reunited with them, and this bill would do that." It's believed that 20-thousand children of Filipino World War Two vets would benefit from the legislation. Representative Colleen Hanabusa has introduced companion legislation in the House.
